How to treat hair loss

First off I just want to say that it is normal for everyone to lose between 50-120 hairs a day so most of us don’t need to worry about losing too much hair. However, if you have noticed that you have been loosing more hair lately or that certain areas such as a thinning hairline are starting to show then you may want to do something about it.

The treatment I have written about in this post does work, but because of the stages of scalp hair growth, it is not going to be an instant overnight cure.
So we can understand why there is no overnight cure, firstly let’s have a brief look at the three main stages involved in hair growth which are the Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen phases.

Anagen is the actual growth phase and this phase can last from anything between two and six years. At any one time approximately 84% of our hair is in this stage when on average our hair grows approx 1/2 an inch a month. When the hair has finished growing it will enter the second phase which is the Catagen phase and this will last for about two weeks. Just 2% of our hair is in this transitional phase before the hair moves onto the final part of its journey which is the Telogen phase. The final phase is the resting phase and it lasts for about five to six weeks. Approximately 13% of our hair is in this stage at one time and it is this final stage when our hair naturally falls out. This is why, as you can see hair loss on a daily basis is perfectly normal.

When the Telogen phase has ended, the Anagen phase will start all over again and new hair will star to grow. If the old hair has not already fallen out, the new hair will push it out in order to start the growth cycle all over again.

To treat hair loss I firstly recommend that you use a gentle shampoo which does not contain too many harmful chemicals and also chose one that has a low ph level of 5.5 or less. Best also to try to avoid shampoos containing sodium laurl sulfate, but because sodium laurl sulfate acts as a foaming agent most shampoos will contain this.

My personal favourite shampoo for hair loss is Sebamed Anti-hair loss shampoo which, on the positive side contains ginkgo biloba and niacin to help blood circulation in the scalp and also caffeine which helps increase circulation which leads to an increase of hair growth. It’s php is 5.5 although the negative aspect of the shampoo is that it contains sodium laurl sulfate, though I suspect on a lower level than a lot of shampoos because Seba med Anti-Hair loss shampoo does not produce a lot of lather. After use, you may well find that your hair is drier than normal. Personally I don’t find this a problem although you may want to apply some coconut oil afterwards.

Secondly, you need to treat the areas on your scalp that are thinning and for this I recommend Minoxidil 5% solution. Originally developed as a treatment for high BP, one of the side effects of Minoxidil was found to be an increase of hair growth.

You cant expect overnight results because regrowth needs to be stimulated so I recommend buying a 3 month pack of Minoxidil which will allow time for the early stages of hair growth to be seen.
It is important to note, that if you stop using Minoxidil that you will lose the re-grown hair over a period of time and it will not re-grow unless you start using Minoxidil again.

There is no need to be embarrassed about buying any hair loss products over the counter because all of the brands can be found online. Spectral Ultra High Purity 5% Minoxidil Solution is available through Amazon at possible the best price I have seen. Do buy from a reputable company because there are fake products on the market. I would also like to point out that Minoxidil has a distinct smell and you will probably be award of this throughout the day. For pet owners. It is extremely toxic to cats, so make sure that you wash your hands well after applying.

Healthy hair also comes from within so it is important to have the correct nutrients to help maintain and promote healthy hair and stop hair loss.  Fitoval capsules formula supply the roots of the hair with all the necessary nutrients.

Fitoval® 60 Capsules – Anti Hair Loss is not expensive.  60 capsules cost an affordable £3.74 which will last you for 2 months.  You can find more about Fitoval anti hair loss products right here or order your pack for £3.74 here
